Behind Schmidty Bakes
Hi there, I’m Tyler – the cookie baker, home cook, and cocktail mixer.
What started as a place to share small-batch cookie recipes has grown into something a little bigger.
I still love creating small-batch sweets…
but now you’ll also find savory recipes and the occasional cocktail.
Here you’ll find everyday small batch recipes. From sweet to savory, and a cocktail or two.
I started my first blog, Schmidt Happens, in 2018. I created the blog to share some of my favorite recipes with my friends and family. I had a collection of savory recipes and a few cocktails. I’ve always felt comfort in the kitchen and I was excited to see what was ahead.
In 2020, Instagram introduced Reels. My Reels were reaching a ton more people than I expected and especially my cookie reels. I decided to shift gears to develop small batch cookie recipes instead because of how well they were doing on Instagram.
In late 2023, I decided it was time to rebrand myself under a new name, Schmidty Bakes. A blog dedicated to small batch cookie recipes. I’ve always loved cookies and I was excited to develop new cookie recipes to share with my readers.
Jump ahead to 2025 and I’m excited to share this rebranded blog with more than just cookie recipes. I have other small batch desserts including bars, cheesecake, ice cream, no bake, and scones. In addition to sweets, I’ll also have savory and cocktail recipes. Check out some of my absolute favorite recipes below!
Recipes I make on repeat
One
Peanut Butter Chocolate Swirl Cookies
Peanut butter chocolate swirl cookies are a delicious combination of rich, creamy peanut butter and indulgent chocolate. The swirls in the dough create a beautiful marbled effect, giving each bite a perfect balance of sweet and nutty flavors.

Two
Sweet Potato Bowls
These sweet potato bowls are a favorite in our house! Crispy sweet potatoes piled onto a bed of rice with veggies, cilantro, and a lime yogurt sauce. YUM!
Three
Almond Cookies
Almond cookies are a fall favorite of mine. They remind me of an almond croissant! They have an almond filling and are topped with toasted almonds, creating a deliciously nutty treat that’s perfect for fall.
